Why does HeadWell need an account?

Your health data is private. An account scopes everything to you and lets you restore your record on a new device. We support Sign in with Apple, Google, or email — your choice.

Why does it need HealthKit access?

HeadWell reads daily sleep, heart rate, HRV, and step count to spot patterns linked to your headaches. Raw Health samples never leave your device — we only store daily aggregates (one sleep number, one HRV number). You can use HeadWell fully without HealthKit; predictions are just sharper with it.

Why location and barometer?

Barometric pressure drops are one of the most reliable migraine triggers. Your iPhone's barometer reads local pressure to ±0.1 hPa — more accurate than any forecast. We use your location once per refresh to pair that reading with Apple WeatherKit data. Location is not stored.

How accurate is the risk forecast?

HeadWell's forecast is a personalized score derived from your own logged data and publicly available weather data. It is not a clinical prediction or diagnostic tool. Like any pattern-based system, it gets sharper as you log more entries. After about 30 days of consistent logging, most users see the daily score align meaningfully with how they actually feel.

How do I export my data?

Open the app → Profile → Data Export. You can export everything as CSV (for spreadsheets) or JSON (for backup). Files are generated on your device and shared via the iOS share sheet — they never touch our servers.

How do I delete my account?

Open the app → Profile → Account → Delete my account. This is irreversible and removes all your data from our backend within 30 days.

How much does HeadWell cost?

Free at v1.0. We may introduce optional paid features later; if so, you'll be notified before any charge and existing features won't be retroactively gated.

Will my doctor accept the PDF report?

The doctor PDF is designed for neurologists, headache specialists, and primary care providers. It includes a narrative summary, attack frequency, trigger patterns, medication effectiveness, MIDAS/HIT-6 scores, and HealthKit correlations — formatted for a clinical visit. Whether your specific clinician finds it useful depends on them, but the format is widely recognizable.

Is HeadWell HIPAA-compliant?

HeadWell is a consumer wellness app, not a Covered Entity under HIPAA. We follow HIPAA-style best practices (TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest, least-privilege access, audit logging) but we do not market the app as HIPAA-compliant. We are not a Business Associate to any healthcare provider.

Does HeadWell work offline?

Most logging and on-device features work offline. Risk forecasting needs internet for weather and barometer cross-checks. Your offline logs sync the next time the app comes online.
